“Visit to the Laboratory” – workshops for young students covered by the Foundation’s Patronage

On 22nd May 2019, at the Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the workshop "Visit to the Laboratory" organized by the Marcel Nencki Foundation for the Support of Biological Sciences, took place for students from CLX High School. gen. div. Stefana Roweckiego „Grota” in Warsaw. The workshop was attended by young people from classes with extended biology education, covered by the Foundation's patronage. The students got acquainted with research and took part in classes in the six laboratories of the Institute.

Laboratory of Intracellular Ion Channels (prof. Adam Szewczyk ) Records of the single ion channel protein activity from isolated mitochondria of mammalian cells. Zajęcia prowadził Classes led Piotr Koprowski

Laboratory of Cellular Metabolism (prof.Krzysztof Zabłocki) „Bioenergetics of mitochondria and calcium homeostasis”. Classes led Dorota Dymkowska, Oksana Makoveychuk and Justyna Róg.

Laboratory of Cytoskeleton and Cilia Biology (prof. Dorota Włoga) “Ciliate Tetrahymena thermophila as a model organism for research of ciliary proteins” Classes led Martyna Poprzeczko and Marta Bicka.

Laboratory of Molecular Membrane Biology (prof. Katarzyna Kwiatkowska) „Effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on the level of receptor proteins in macrophages - detection of proteins by Western blot. Classes led Aneta Hromada-Judycka and Anna Ciesielska.

Laboratory of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes (prof. Jerzy Duszyński) „Investigation of oxidative stress in cells (fibroblasts or neuroblastoma)”. Classes led Joanna Szczepanowska, Dominika Malińska, Karolina Drabik and Małgorzata Partyka
