Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences seeks to fill the position of a Principal Investigator, who will compete for a grant within the framework of “ARTIQ - AI Centers of Excellence” call and establish a center for Artificial Intelligence. ARTIQ is a joint program of the National Center for Research and Development and the National Science Center in Poland. ARTIQ aims to increase Poland’s scientific and R&D potential in the field of artificial intelligence. Upon successful receiving the ARTIQ grant, the position of the leader and the laboratory will be financed by PLN 20,000,000 ($5,000,000 including up to $250,000 for support to establish a startup company) for a period of up to 60 months.
The Nencki Institute was selected as one of the top institutions in Poland with the potential and infrastructure to create a new AI center. Our institute has a long-standing expertise in neurobiology, behavioral biology, physiology cancer biology and genetics. We address both fundamental and applied questions in biology, using animal models as well as in-vitro approaches including organoid systems. We deploy multiple experimental platforms such as advanced imaging, high-throughput screening, and sequencing. We offer a vibrant and highly collaborative scientific environment with established group leaders as young PIs.
We wish to select a leader who will submit a cutting-edge project in the field of computational biology. Candidates with a strong potential to build models bridging results from multidisciplinary endeavors are particularly encouraged to apply. The competition is aimed at high-class scientists, who obtained a doctoral degree up to 8 years before the call for applications. An application submitted for the competition must be in the field of research and R&D works in connection to artificial intelligence.
