The National Science Centre Grants Maestro and Sonata Bis for the Nencki Institute

The National Science Centre has announced the ranking lists of projects approved for funding in MAESTRO and SONATA BIS calls. Scientists from the Nencki Institute received financial support for 1 research project in MAESTRO 11 and for 3 projects in SONATA Bis 9 competitions.

Maestro:

- prof. dr hab. Adam Michał Szewczyk - Light-regulated mitochondrial potassium channels:searching for new cytoprotective mechanisms?

Maestro grants are designed for advanced researchers wanting to conduct pioneering research, including interdisciplinary research which is important for the development of science.

Sonata BIS:

- dr Piotr Mieczysław Brągoszewski - Ubiquitin as a modulator of the mitochondrial protein import process.

- dr Andrzej Tomasz Foik - A new approach of vision restoration based on modified Rabies virus tracing technique.

- dr Tomasz Łukasz Wójtowicz - The role of lipid modifications of proteins in functional neuronal plasticity, learning and memory

Sonata Bis is a funding opportunity addressed to researchers holding a doctoral degree, wanting to establish a new research team and become independent research leaders.
