Historical background

Doctoral studies at the Institute have a long tradition. The first studies started in 1968. The subsequent round took place in 2001 under the supervision of Prof. Małgorzata Kossut. In the years 2006-2010, the head of studies was Prof. dr. hab. Jolanta Barańska, then from 2011 to 2014 Prof. Jolanta Skangiel-Kramska. As of 2015, the head of the studies is Prof. dr. hab. Daniel Wójcik.

The Institute conducts studies in Polish and English and has been authorized to award doctoral degrees (doktor) in biological sciences since 1955 and in biochemistry since 2015. Since 1955 the Institute has been authorized to award a postdoctoral degree (doktor habilitowany) in biological sciences in the discipline of biology.

According to the current regulations, the doctoral studies last until September 30, 2023.

Starting from the academic year 2019/2020 the Nencki Institute does not enroll any candidates for doctoral studies. We encourage candidates to apply to the Warsaw PhD School in Natural and BioMedical Sciences. For more information please visit www.warsaw4phd.eu.
