License agreement between Nencki Institute and Teldoc Sp. z o. o.

On August 31, 2021, prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyn, Nencki Institute’s Director, and Ms. Marta Kaleńska-Jaśkiewicz, Chief Executive Officer of Teldoc Sp. z o. o., signed a license agreement that defines the framework for Teldoc's use of the know-how and the IT system, which were developed within SONAR projects (SONAR system).

SONAR system is a combination of a group testing strategy for SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis and an IT tool, which significantly improves practical implementation of the diagnostic screening process.

The use of the SONAR system will enable reliable and widely available identification in the population of asymptomatic individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus. This, in turn, may allow educational institutions, health care facilities, manufacturing plants, or government agencies to operate efficiently during periods of increased COVID-19 incidence without having to curtail operations.

The group testing strategy was initially developed within the SONAR project, and then developed and evaluated in population studies in the SONAR 2 project. Nencki Institute has also developed an IT platform in collaboration with the technological partner Teldoc. This tool allows for management, storage and analysis of group testing results, as well as evaluation of the effectiveness of the developed testing algorithms.

SONAR and SONAR 2 projects were funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
