Professorial nomination to Grzegorz Wilczyński

On October 26th 2016, Andrzej Duda, the president of Republic of Poland, handed professorial nominations to academic teachers and workers of science and arts. Among the nominees, there was prof. Grzegorz Wilczyński, the head of the Laboratory of Molecular and Systemic Neuromorphology.

The main activity of his laboratory aims at investigation of new molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuronal plasticity, involving both, the synapses and the neuronal cell nuclei. An important aspect in the functioning of the laboratory is the participation in the development in the new kinds of microscopy. The methological approach used by the  Laboratory of Molecular and Systemic Neuromorphology involves molecular-morphologic techniques, such as immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization, at the level of both, light microscopy (including superresolution) and electron microscopy, as well as a range of biochemical techniques. Such an assemble of the techniques allows to unravel the complex nature of neuronal plasticity.
