VIII Parnas Conference in Warsaw

Main topics of the Conference were post-transcriptional regulation, bioinformatics in gene expression, cell guidance, gene expression and brain disease, protein structure and function, and calcium in signalling. Two Nobel Prize laureates, Professors Ada Yonath and Aaron Ciechanover, as well as Dr. Alexander Wlodawer were the Key Speakers. The Conference was under the Honorary Patronage of Mr. Radosław Sikorski, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Professor Barbara Kudrycka, the Minister of Science and Higher Education. Over 270 participants, mainly from Poland, Ukraine and Israel also listened to 27 session lectures. 137 abstracts were presented in three poster sessions. Kavita Ramji from the Nencki Institute won an award for the best poster presentation. The Scientific Committee was chaired by Professor Andrzej Dżugaj and the Organizing Committee was headed by Prof. Maria Jolanta Rędowicz. The Conference was both scientific and organizational success of the Polish Biochemical Society.
